Improving Thermal Resistance

Most cashew particles used around the world are the brown type…the oldest and lowest technology, but of course, the lowest cost as well. While Palmer offers these products, we find that customers are increasingly searching out better performing materials. Recognizing that brake trends are for smaller pad sizes and, therefore, higher braking temperatures, we are developing cashew particles with improved thermal resistance.

The following series of TGA (thermal gravimetric analysis) curves compares newer technology cashew particles (shown as black) against the standard brown type. By changing the chemistry of the particle, we can significantly improve thermal performance.
