Bruce B. Palmer Receives Achievement Award

Bruce B. Palmer received the Dan Mahannah Achievement Award at the 2006 SAE Brake Colloquium and Exhibition held in Grapevine, Texas October 8 – 11, 2006.

The Mahannah Achievement award is presented each year by Link Engineering Company, a provider of brake testing systems, to a distinguished member of the Brake and Friction Material industry. It recognizes an individual for unselfish contributions towards the betterment of the industry and its members through technological advancements, educational or promotional endeavors. The award is a memorial to Dan Mahannah who embodied the spirit of professionalism throughout his career in the Brake and Friction Material industry.

Mr. Palmer was selected as the 2006 recipient for his pursuit of high-quality and high-performance cashew particles to improve wear, performance, and noise through the use of cashew nut shell liquid (CNSL). Cashew is used in all friction materials throughout the world.

In presenting the award, Roy Link, CEO of Link Engineering, commented, "We congratulated and say thank you to Bruce Palmer for his enthusiasm and contributions to the betterment of the Brake and Friction Material industry."

Palmer Participates in the 2006 International Coatings Expo

The theme of the 2006 International Coatings EXPO, held in New Orleans during the first week of November, was “Green Chemistry-Global Ingenuity”. Pictured at the Palmer booth (from the left) are Greg Tzap, Katie Finan and Juan Marcano, Palmer’s Paint and Coatings Team.

The Palmer Paint and Coatings team, consisting of Katie Finan, Greg Tzap, Kevin Palmer and Juan Marcano, participated in the 2006 International Coatings Exposition (ICE) held in New Orleans during the first week in November.

The "ICE Show," North America’s largest coatings exposition, offers attendees the opportunity to learn about the latest technological developments, and for exhibitors and presenters, the opportunity to launch and highlight new product innovations. With 4600 attendees and approximately 300 exhibitors, the 2006 ICE show was smaller than previous years, but it didn’t dampen the enthusiasm off all in attendance.

The theme for the 2006 Expo was "Green Chemistry- Global Ingenuity" which was a perfect format to highlight Palmer’s Cashewthane™ and Aequenol™ line of resins and surfactants for coatings and inks. In addition, Palmer unveiled their new booth display dedicated to their renewable coatings and graphic arts technologies. The members of the Palmer team that participated in the Expo felt the new booth graphics contributed greatly to their increased traffic at the show.

Palmer was happy to have been part of this year’s Expo since it was one of the first major industry events in New Orleans since Hurricane Katrina. The city is desperately trying to rebuild after the devastation of that natural disaster, and is relying on events such as the ICE Show to contribute to its rebuilding effort.
