Friction Materials

Friction composites are used pervasively in many industries to control an object’s velocity, most notably in automotive braking. In our post-asbestos world, these complex composites are comprised of anywhere between 10 and 30 raw materials. Palmer’s cashew particles play a functional role in stabilizing the coefficient of friction, reducing wear, minimizing noise, vibration and harshness (NVH), and influencing “pedal feel”.

Paints & Coatings

Paints and Coatings comprise a very wide array of applications, and Palmer’s CNSL technologies play a key role in many of them as a resin, a curing agent or as an additive. Cashewthaneā„¢ is Palmer’s patented air-dry technology that helps reduce volatile organic compounds (VOC’s) in architectural stains, varnishes and other coatings. Palmer services the industrial markets through our joint venture company, RP International.

Polyurethane Foams

In cooperation with our strategic partner, BioBased Technologies, Palmer is pioneering a line of mannich polyols built from cashew. With the push to use renewable chemistries in the construction segment, Palmer hopes to replace a portion of the petrochemically-derived polyols in rigid PU foam.


Beyond Palmer’s “ready-for-use” derivatives, we offer a few intermediates as a starting point for your own chemical innovations. Typical industries that find utility in our intermediate products include phenolic resin, phenalkamine, polyol, rubber and fuel.
